About Katalin Janssens
Katalin Janssens is the counsellor behind Quiet Ground Counselling.
Warm, grounded support for adults seeking clarity, healing, and meaningful change.
A Place to Feel Heard
When life feels heavy, it can be hard to know where to turn.
My intention in creating Quiet Ground Counselling was to offer adults a place where they can step out of the noise, feel genuinely heard, and begin finding steadiness again — steadiness to meet stress, change, relationships, and life’s challenges with greater clarity.
My Professional Background
I hold a Master of Counselling and am a Level 3 Registered Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association.
My work draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and existential psychotherapy, always tailored to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
This means therapy can be adapted to your unique needs and pace, combining practical strategies with opportunities for deeper emotional understanding and lasting change.
Life Beyond Qualifications
Life experience has also shaped the way I practise.
As a former elite gymnast, I understand discipline, resilience, and the pressure of performing at high standards.
Migrating to a new country taught me about adaptation, rebuilding, and finding belonging in unfamiliar places.
Through personal loss, I have come to understand grief and the courage it can take to begin again.
These experiences ground my work in both professional knowledge and genuine compassion.
My Approach
Therapy with me is about meaningful and sustainable change.
That may include:
- building safety and trust
- understanding repeating patterns
- working with mind and body
- developing steadiness and self-trust
- moving at a pace that respects your story
Feeling anxious or low does not mean something is wrong with you. Often it reflects a system trying to protect you while signalling something needs care.
Working With Me
Sessions are collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in real life.
You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. Many people come feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin.
I listen closely, help you make sense of what is happening, and where helpful, offer practical strategies to support change between sessions.
Therapy unfolds at a pace that respects your readiness and the kind of change you are seeking.
Outside the Therapy Room
While therapy is my profession, life beyond work keeps me grounded too.
I find inspiration in the arts — theatre, concerts, and galleries — and joy in the simple rituals of good coffee, pastries, and chocolate.
Even in difficult seasons, creativity, beauty, and comfort can offer small but meaningful moments of light.
