Workers Compensation Counselling
SIRA-Approved Counselling in Dural & Online
Support for people experiencing psychological injury or distress related to work.
How workers compensation counselling can help
A workplace injury can affect much more than your ability to work. You may be dealing with anxiety, loss of confidence, disrupted sleep, low mood, anger or a sense of being constantly on alert. For some people, the workers compensation process itself can add another layer of stress.
Counselling can support you with:
- Workplace bullying, harassment or conflict
- Psychological injury and work-related stress
- Burnout, anxiety or low mood
- Traumatic incidents at work
- Adjusting to physical injury, pain or changes in capacity
- Fear, uncertainty or loss of confidence about returning to work
- Building confidence and psychological readiness for a safe, sustainable return to work
Treatment is tailored to your circumstances, with a focus on helping you feel safer, steadier and better able to move forward.
What counselling at Quiet Ground Counselling is like
Counselling provides a space to make sense of what has happened and how it is affecting you now. I work with you at a pace that takes into account your individual circumstances, symptoms and stage of recovery.
Informed by my approach to counselling, therapy may focus on managing difficult emotions and stress responses, rebuilding confidence, developing practical ways to cope, and gradually reconnecting with areas of life or work that have become difficult.
The aim is not simply to get you back to work as quickly as possible, but to support meaningful and sustainable recovery — including a safe return to work when this becomes appropriate.
SIRA counselling: what you need to know
I provide SIRA-approved counselling at Quiet Ground Counselling for people with NSW workers compensation claims. Before treatment begins, I will confirm whether counselling is covered under your claim and whether insurer approval is required.
If counselling is covered under your claim
- Eligible counselling sessions are billed directly to the insurer, with no gap fee for you.
- Sessions are available in person in Dural or online across NSW.
- With your consent, I can communicate with your GP, case manager and other treatment providers to support coordinated care and recovery.
For GPs, case managers and referrers
I welcome referrals for workers experiencing psychological distress or injury related to work. Treatment is recovery-focused and collaborative, with attention to psychological wellbeing, functional recovery and a safe and sustainable return to work where appropriate.
With the worker’s consent, I provide relevant treatment updates and communicate with GPs, case managers and other members of the treatment team to support coordinated care.

FAQ
Do I need a referral for workers compensation counselling?
This depends on your claim and whether prior approval is required. Before treatment begins, I will confirm what is needed for counselling to be covered under your workers compensation claim.
Can I choose my own counsellor?
In many cases, injured workers can choose their treating practitioner, provided the practitioner is appropriately approved to provide services within the NSW workers compensation scheme. I am a SIRA-approved counsellor and can confirm the relevant requirements before treatment begins.
What happens at the first counselling session?
The first session is an opportunity to talk about what has been happening, how it is affecting you and what you would like help with. We will begin identifying a focus for counselling and work at a pace that feels manageable. You do not need to tell your whole story in the first session.
Will everything I say in counselling be shared with the insurer?
No. Counselling is confidential, within the usual legal and professional limits. Workers compensation treatment does involve some communication about your treatment and progress with relevant parties, such as your insurer, GP or treatment team. This does not mean that everything you discuss in counselling is routinely shared.
